Operation Freedom Paws, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit, was founded by Vietnam-era Veteran Mary Cortani who trained dogs during her military career.  She started Operation Freedom Paws in 2010 after a former Marine approached her seeking assistance in acquiring a service dog to help him overcome anxiety disorders caused by combat hyper-vigilance.

This amazing organization his helped almost 300 veterans and their founder has been the recipient of numerous awards for her efforts.  In 2012 CNN announced Mary in their Top 10 heroes in their CNN Heroes program.    As Mary says, “I match Veterans with service dogs, train them as a team, so that they can navigate life together.”

These two excellent videos featuring graduates of her program explaining how veterans see the world and about her commitment to empower Veterans by helping them train their own dogs.
